'Rocket League' Xbox One Version May Release Later in February
Good news for "Rocket League" fans who are on Xbox One. The game is still on track to release to the Microsoft console within the month.
Developer Psyonix has updated the Xbox One community as to the status of the game. Replying to a fan who asked for the title's release date on the console, the developer said, "@JamzplaysFIFA We're currently going through the certification process with @ID_Xbox. Mid-February is still our target. Glad you're excited!"
With "Rocket League" Xbox One version already in the hands of Microsoft for certification, fans can expect the title to release to the console soon. If all goes well, Xbox One players should be able to play the soccer-meets-cars game by the middle of February.
"Rocket League's" Xbox One version was announced in December 2015 during The Game Awards. The Xbox One version of the game will have the same features, content, and upgrades as can be found in "Rocket League's" PC version.
In addition, Xbox One players will have a chance to play with two exclusive Battle-Cars. These are the "Halo HogSticker" and the "Gears of War Armadillo." The former is an alternate version of "Halo's" Warthog, while the latter is inspired by "Gears of War" Armored Personnel Carrier of the same name. Xbox One players will also receive exclusive "Sunset Overdrive"-themed items like a Fizzie antenna and an Overcharge rocket boost.
Despite these exclusive additions, "Rocket League" Xbox One version will not have cross-platform play. This feature is supported by the game's PlayStation 4 and PC versions. Xbox One owners will be limited to playing with other Xbox One players only.
Psyonix had explained the reason for this earlier. The developer said the lack of cross-platform play support in the game is a "general practice" for all titles in the Xbox platform.
"Rocket League's" Xbox One version will be bundled with the Supersonic Fury, Chaos Run, and Revenge of the Battle-Cars expansion packs.
