'Rookie Blue' Season 5 Spoilers: Andy Takes Time for Herself (TRAILER VIDEO)

"Rookie Blue" premiered last Thursday, much to the delight of fans. Now there is much speculation about what the future may hold for lead character Andy as she continues to deal with her relationships and her job.

In the premiere, Andy broke things off with her new boyfriend Nick in order to be by the side of her ex, Sam, who was shot. However, she then broke things off with him and told him that she needed space to figure things out. What Sam did not know, though, was that his sister had actually interfered with the relationship and scared Andy away.

According to executive producer Tassie Cameron, Sam's sister did a real number on Andy by calling out her biggest fear about Sam. But was it enough to make Andy walk away from her love for the long-term?

"Andy's come a long way," Cameron told TVLine. "She's grown up a lot in the past five seasons, and she's going to make her own decision. She wants to get it right this time. She's trying to measure the pros and cons and make sure that this is the right choice."

Fans don't have to worry, though. Nick will be just fine and come into his own in the later half of the season. Cameron said that she and the crew "think the world of him as a character and as an actor, so we were not ready to get rid of him." That may mean he gets a new love interest ... one who can commit.

Andy and her new rookie, Duncan, will continue to butt heads as the season continues. His stepfather is the police commissioner, which puts Andy on edge. She has worked for every scrap of respect, while Duncan has merely walked into the position and relies on his stepfather's name to garner respect. It will be interesting to watch these two as the season progresses.

"Rookie Blue" airs Thursday nights on ABC.
