Kate Middleton and Prince William welcomed the birth of a baby boy on Monday and a various critics have begun weighing in on potential names for the royal heir.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are said to be thrilled after the birth of their first child. Middleton, 31, was reportedly in labor for 12 hours and their son weighed in at 8 lbs 6 oz.
Royal author, Charles Kidd, is among various critics who believe George is a top potential pick for the royal couple's son's name. James and Henry have also been dubbed top picks by experts.
"I do think that Prince William is quite a traditionalist - that's my feeling," Kidd, who is editor of Debrett's Peerage and Baronetage, said according to Yahoo.com.
"The fact that he chose to use the royal dukedom (of Cambridge) and has followed royal precedent, I wouldn't be surprised if they use a name that is already familiar in the royal family - something that has royal associations," he explained.
The names Francis, Charles and Philip are also thought to be in the running as potential names due to their royal affiliations.
On Tuesday Middleton and William, 30, released a public statement following the birth of their son. The couple, who has been married for two years, specifically thanked staff at St. Mary's hospital in London.
"We would like to thank the staff at the Lindo Wing and the whole hospital for the tremendous care the three of us have received," the Royal Couple said in a statement obtained by Mail Online UK.
"We know it has been a very busy period for the hospital and we would like to thank everyone — staff, patients and visitors — for their understanding during this time," the statement went on.
On Tuesday Middleton's parents, Carole and Michael, were photographed visiting their new grandson in hospital amid reports suggesting the Duchess is preparing to leave for Kensington Palace.
Royal hairdresser Amanda Cook Tucker, who has been Middleton's stylist since 2012, reportedly entered the Lindo Wing through a private rear entrance on Tuesday which fueled speculation that the Duke, Duchess and baby are preparing to make their first appearance since the baby birth.
