Ryan Gosling Pistorius Movie Rumors Surface
Despite his recent claim to taking a break from acting, Ryan Gosling has been named in rumors surrounding a film about Oscar Pistorius.
"The Notebook" star was reportedly tapped to portray the Paralympian, according to reports.
Deemed "Blade Runner" by some publications, Pistorius was accused of intentionally killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine's Day last month.
Pistorius denies committing murder though, claiming that he mistook his girlfriend for an intruder.
Many questions surround the case, including the fact that Pistorius and Steenkamp had been known to engage in intense arguments. The police had even been called to their home several times for domestic issues, according to CNN.
Following the tragic death of the model, Hollywood scriptwriters have been hard at work on a Pistorius biopic, according to The Sun U.K.
"You've got one of the world's most famous sportsmen under arrest and a beautiful young woman who meets a violent death," explained a source. "Scripts began doing the rounds within days of the scandal breaking."
As for Gosling, the insider said the "Drive" star has the right skills for such a role.
"Although Ryan has been saying publicly that he wants to take a break from acting to relax, executives will be falling over themselves to woo him once the scripts are finalized," the source said.
Gosling, 32, recently admitted he needed an acting break.
"I've lost perspective on what I'm doing, said "The Place Beyond the Pines" star speaking to the Associated Press. "I think it's good for me to take a break and reassess why I'm doing it and how I'm doing it. I need a break from myself as much as I imagine the audience does."
Alternately, Academy Award-winner Charlize Theron has reportedly been slated to portray Pistorius' girlfriend Steenkamp in an upcoming film.
Gosling is not the first actor rumored to have an interest in portraying a disgraced athlete. Several reports indicate that movies are in the works about cyclist Lance Armstrong, with lead roles sought after by actors such Bradley Cooper and Jake Gylenhaal, among others.
