Gosling Calls Abs 'Pets': 'I Feel Goofy Having Them,' Says Actor
What is the point of muscles? Ryan Gosling has no idea, although he has plenty of them. In a recent interview, the actor admitted that he felt quite "silly" having muscles.
Trying to get muscle is "really quite pointless," the actor said during the interview "because you go to a gym and you lift a heavy thing so a muscle grows, but the only thing the muscle can actually do is to lift that heavy thing."
Anna Kendrick didn't seem to find Gosling's muscle all that useless though, when posting on Twitter that he had served as inspiration to her in the theater while she was watching his latest film, "Gangster Squad."
But for Gosling, there is nothing special about his body, and anyone could achieve muscle with enough hard work.
"Anyone can get those if they work at it. It's just a lot of exercising," he told The Herald Sun.
Once you've got muscle, it's more like have a pet than anything else, said the Hollywood star.
"After a while they're like pets because they don't do anything useful. But you have to feed them and take care of them otherwise they'll go away," the actor explained. "I feel a bit goofy having them, to tell you the truth."
Fans suggested that Gosling's muscles were a little bit more useful than he had described, however. In fact, Gosling may not have a job without them.
"Better take good care of 'em Ryan...They ARE your bread and butter!" one fan wrote on a Yahoo blog.
Other fans were less generous.
"Poor guy... it must be horrible to feel goofy about having them," the user wrote on Yahoo. "Thank God he's doing everything he can to keep them from the public eye. I wish him a speedy recovery."
