Sadie Robertson Thankful Show Has Brought Prayer Back to Schools Through Student-Led 'Duck Dynasty Clubs'

Sadie Robertson is thankful her family's reality show "Duck Dynasty" has prompted students across the country to pray in school, the 16-year-old said while speaking in Montgomery, Ala., over the weekend.

Sadie, the granddaughter of the show's patriarch, Phil Robertson, spoke on Sunday at a fundraiser for Prattville Christian Academy, a private Christian school. At the event, which took place at the Montgomery Performing Arts Centre, Robertson said that students across the country have formed "Duck Dynasty clubs" to facilitate daily prayer sessions before lunch. Robertson went on to add that she is pleased her family's reality show has brought prayer back to schools.

"For a TV show to bring prayer into schools, that's awesome," Robertson told the audience, according to the Montgomery Advertiser. Robertson's Sunday talk reportedly sold out half of the performing arts center, with tickets ranging in price from $38.50 to $82.50.

Sadie's grandfather, Phil Robertson, was recently embroiled in controversy due to comments he made in the January issue of GQ Magazine when he described homosexuality as a sin. Robertson's comments caused the reality show's network, A&E, to suspend Phil from appearing on the show, but the suspension was lifted after nine days due to immense public backlash.

Although Phil received a lot of criticism for his comments, his family stood behind their patriarch during the entire struggle, releasing a statement that said they could not imagine doing a show without their family leader at the helm. Sadie echoed the family's sentiment at Sunday's event, saying that her family had agreed not to address the controversy to the public, but that she was pleased Phil was back with the family's television show.

Sadie's father, Willie Robertson, has also said that the family hopes to put the entire Phil Robertson controversy behind them and move on with taping hilarious "Duck Dynasty" episodes. While speaking with wife Korie from Steamboat Springs, Colo., on New Year's Eve, Willie Robertson said his family holds no ill feelings toward the A&E network, and the entire Robertson clan is just happy to be back at work.

"We're just glad to be back to work; A&E and us are fine," Willie said on Fox's New Year's Eve special on Dec. 31. "It's a new year, we're ready to break in the new year and start all over again."

A&E's "Duck Dynasty" season five is set to premiere on Jan. 15, and the upcoming season will include Rebecca Robertson, a new addition to the reality show's cast. Rebecca is one of the family's adopted children who is originally from Taiwan. The 24-year-old initially lived with Willie and Korie as an exchange student, but the couple fell in love with her and adopted her as their own child.

The show will continue to follow the Robertson family as they continue hunting and making duck calls from their home in West Monroe, La.
