Samsung Galaxy Note Overlooked for A Not So 'New iPad'
The Samsung Galaxy Note seemed to arrive with little to no buzz as the "new iPad" debuted yesterday commanding the attention of almost every media outlet and consumer.
Samsung seems to feel that its smartphone-tablet hybrid has been overlooked for an Apple device that is inferior in many ways. Despite the HD screen and quad-core graphics processor, Samsung has been offering 4G LTE tablets for the past few months.
Apple is a little late to the game.
The Galaxy Note also featurees the S Pen, which is a stylus that allows users to draw and leave notes on any picture.
Apple could have taken a few pointers from Samsung who seemed to innovate more with the Note.
Here are some other tasks the Galaxy Note can perform that the new iPad is not able to.
The Galaxy Note can view two apps at the same time and the user can even work with both of them. The device is also optimized for precision writing and drawing, whereas the iPad is not. The S Pen is 10 times more accurate with 255 levels of pressure sensitivity. iPad's screen only recognizes one level of pressure sensitivity.
A Galaxy Note owner can also take notes in one app while viewing content in another app. The iPad cannot. The user can also cut and paste content between two apps side by side, where the iPad owner cannot.
Other advantages the Note has over the iPad is that it is lighter that Apple's device, it can can control home theater equipment with an integrated IR port, a mouse can be attached to it and its storage can be expanded by 32GB by using a microSD card.
The Galaxy Note 5.3 also has more pixels per inch at 284 than the iPad Retina display that is at 264.
