The company first announced that it would begin rolling out the update in various countries throughout Europe last month via press release.

"The upgrade will begin in European countries including Poland, Hungary, and Sweden, as well as Korea today and gradually roll out to other markets," said Samsung in the press release.

It also stated that other mobile devices including the Galaxy Note, Galaxy S2 LTE, Galaxy R, Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus 7.7, 8.9, and 10.1 will all receive the Android 4.0 upgrade very soon following the Galaxy S2.

There is still no confirmation for when the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade will be released for the regular version of the Samsung Galaxy S2 in the U.S.

The demand seems to be the highest for the device that Samsung branded the "iPhone killer" shortly before its release back in 2011.

Samsung recently sent out an invitation for an event where the Korean electronics giant is expected to unveil the Samsung Galaxy S3 that is expected to come with Ice Cream Sandwich pre-installed.

The company had previously announced that the launch of the device will take place shortly after it is unveiled.

However, the event has not been confirmed to be for the Galaxy S3 by Samsung even though it is titled "Come meet the next Galaxy."

The Samsung Galaxy S3 should be released sometime in May.
