Samsung Galaxy S2 Ice Cream Sandwich Upgrades Begin in Canada
The Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade for Galaxy devices including the S2 and Tab line have begun rolling out in Canada, according to an announcement made by Samsung.
The company released a statement that outlined the details of the upgrade and pointed customers to where they could find out more.
"The availability and scheduling of the software upgrade and specific models upgradable to Android 4.0 are going to vary by market and wireless carriers' requirements," said Samsung. "For carrier specific details, please visit."
Samsung released a list of every country where the Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade for the Galaxy S2 will be available last month.
The company first announced that it would begin rolling out the update in various countries throughout Europe via press release.
"The upgrade will begin in European countries including Poland, Hungary, and Sweden, as well as Korea today and gradually roll out to other markets," said Samsung in the press release.
It also stated that other mobile devices including the Galaxy Note, Galaxy S2 LTE, Galaxy R, Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus 7.7, 8.9, and 10.1 will all receive the Android 4.0 upgrade very soon following the Galaxy S2.
There is still no confirmation for when the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade will be released for the regular version of the Samsung Galaxy S2 in the U.S.
The demand seems to be the highest for the device that Samsung branded the "iPhone killer" shortly before its release back in 2011.
Samsung recently sent out an invitation for an event where the Korean electronics giant will unveil the Samsung Galaxy S3 that is expected to come with Ice Cream Sandwich pre-installed.
That "Mobile Unpacked" event will take place on May 3.
