Samsung Galaxy S3 Variant to Feature Windows Phone

The number one flagship Android handset could now also become the number one Windows Phone handset as Samsung is rumored to be releasing a device with the same specifications as the S3- except it will run Microsoft's operating system.

"The Samsung Galaxy S3 is the most anticipated device in 2012 for Android fans all over the world," wrote YouMobile. "Many rumors are talking about the Galaxy S3, but one recent rumor that seems to make sense is that the S3 could be used as a hardware and design reference for Samsung's first Windows Phone 8 handset."

The site also reported that the rumored device has been referred to as the Samsung Focus S2 as the original Focus was one of the most successful first-generation Windows Phone handsets. The Focus name would be adopted by Samsung, who would use it to brand the new line of devices in the same manner as the Galaxy for Android.

Rumored specifications for the Focus S2 include a 4.7-inch HD display, a faster dual or quad-core processor, LTE support, a 12-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front camera, a dedicated camera button, Samsung Cloud Support, NFC (near-field-communications) and an improved Photo Studio.

Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S3 on May 3, at its "Mobile Unpacked" event that it has sent out invitations to that read "Come and meet the next Galaxy."

The company has not confirmed that it will be revealing the S3, but many signs point to the event being the time that Samsung will unveil it to the world.

Pictures of what is thought to be the Galaxy S3 have already leaked, and with the device already out there, it cannot be too much longer until it hits shelves.

Samsung did confirm that the device will feature a quad-core processor and that it will be named the Galaxy S3.
