With the Samsung Galaxy S2 launching on Sprint as the Epic 4G Touch earlier this month, Computerworld.com has now spent a week testing out the device to see if it was worth the hype.

The “iPhone killer” received rave reviews overseas and is just a week away from debuting on AT&T.

Computerworld was pleased with the device for the most part.

“I can safely say the company has hit it out of the park,” wrote JR Raphael on his Computerworld review on the device. “The Epic 4G Touch, available now on Sprint for $200 with a two year contract, is everything you’d expect it to be.”

Raphael describes the smartphone as fast sleek and fun to use, and calls it one of the best Android phones he has ever tested.

One of the Galaxy S2’s biggest pros is its body and display, according to Raphael.

With a 4.5-in. touch screen display, built with Samsung’s new Super AMOLED Plus technology, this device impresses the reviewer as he deems it a true “work of art.” It is crisp and bright with bold, brilliant colors that he describes as “candy to the eye.” The Galaxy S2’s display far outdoes most other high-end smartphones.

It is also light, weighing 4.6oz and relatively thin. Paired with a textured back with the Galaxy S2 logo in the center the Galaxy S2’s appearance is somewhat classy to the reviewer.

The smartphone sports a two-button volume rocker along its left edge and a power button on its right. It has a headphone jack and a charging/MHL port on the bottom, which also allows the device to be connected to a HD television with the purchase of a separate adapter.

The 8 megapixel camera the device comes with is capable of capturing high resolution shots on the go and also can film 1080p video. According to Raphael, the camera “delivers excellent looking pictures.”
