Samsung Galaxy S4 Active Water Damage Warranty to Be Offered by AT&T
A Samsung Galaxy S4 Active water damage warranty will be offered by AT&T in case the specs on the device fail.
The smartphone is build to withstand large amounts of water, however, there are rare cases when liquid could actually do damage to the device.
AT&T and Samsung will basically offer an exchange program for those that have water related trouble with the device, according to a PhoneArena report. They will replace damaged handsets one time for Active owners. The only catch it that this is the only time they will agree to replace it. If it breaks again, customers will have to purchase another one. The source claims to have attained this message from an internal menu at AT&T.
The two companies could be launching this new warrantee program to protect the reputation of the smartphone that is marketed as a waterproof handset. They should be confirming it sometime soon.
The Galaxy S4 Active was released for AT&T back in June of this year.
"Continuing AT&T's legacy as the first carrier to launch the Samsung Galaxy series, we're excited to offer the next evolution of the popular Galaxy S4. The Galaxy S4 Active is a high-performance smartphone to stylish, protective design to keep up with the demands of everyday life," said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president of devices and developer services for AT&T.
"With its quad-core processor and access to the nation's largest 4G network and fastest 4G LTE network you can stay connected nearly anywhere life takes you," he added.
The Galaxy S4 Active functions as a water and dust proof version of the original Samsung flagship. The device is IP67 certified and is able to capture photos and videos underwater.
Specifications on the Galaxy S4 Active include a 1.9GHz quad-core processor, 2,600mAh battery, a 5-inch Full HD TFT LCD screen (443 ppi) and a new feature called "Glove Touch" that allows users to operate the handset's touchscreen while wearing a glove.
The Active model also comes with an 8-megapixel camera that can be used underwater with another new feature known as Aqua Mode. This can be used to increase the visual quality and clarity for enhanced underwater images and video.
