Sandusky Charity Settles Out of Court (VIDEO)
The charity run by Penn State University former football coach Jerry Sandusky, The Second Mile, has settled a lawsuit out of court with one of Sandusky’s alleged sexual abuse victims.
Alleged victim “John Doe No. 4” has agreed to a proposed settlement according Bloomberg, and his lawyer, Ben Andreozzi, has said that the charity has agreed to seek court approval before transferring any assets; in line with demands from the alleged victim’s attorneys.
Andreozzi told Bloomberg: “Our goal in filing this lawsuit was to protect the interests of our clients and other victims. We intend to initiate a civil lawsuit seeking damages from the organizations and individuals responsible for sexual assaults upon our clients.”
The charity has been the center of a whirlwind of media attention since Sandusky was charged Nov. 5 by Pennsylvania state prosecutors. Sandusky, 67, has been charged with 40 counts related to sexual molestation of eight boys spanning a period between 1994 and 2009.
The Second Mile was established in 1977 by Sandusky and promotes that it serves children with physical, emotional and academic needs.
