"Selena voluntarily spent time at Meadows but not for substance abuse," Gomez' representative told Us Weekly.

Gomez cancelled the Australian leg of her tour last year before her reported rehab stint and may have hinted at some issues she was having.

"My fans are so important to me and I would never want to disappoint them," she said in a statement last year. "But it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be."

While some publications like TMZ insisted that Gomez' stint in rehab was do to her breakup with famed singer Justin Bieber, she has not confirmed the speculation. After breaking their romantic union at the beginning of last year, Gomez spoke about how the end of that relationship affected her.

"I'm sure you could actually see those pictures of me being, like, way stressed out about it," she said in an E! special with Ryan Seacrest last year. "And it's hard, because what do you do? Do you just wanna sit in your house and hide and not go anywhere?"

No matter her reason for entering rehab, Gomez has been receiving support from some celebrity friends.

"I've known her for 14 years and we've been best friends," Demi Lovato, 21-year-old singer-songwriter told E! about Gomez. "That's all of her business, and I just want to let her do her thing. And yeah, she's amazing. I love her."

Joe Jonas, the singer formerly of The Jonas Brothers band, also had kind words for Gomez recently.

"I want her to succeed and I want her to be happy," Jonas told E! News.
