Selena Gomez Refuses to Return to Rehab; Wants to See Justin Bieber?
Selena Gomez is reportedly refusing to go back to rehab despite pleas from her management and insiders claim friends and family are growing concerned about her well being.
The "Come and Get it" singer, 21, spent only two weeks at Dawn at the Meadows last month and ultimately failed to complete the full 6-week program. Sources claim Gomez left the facility early so that so she could attend the Sundance Film Festival and while she reportedly agreed to return to rehab after the event, she later refused to do so, according to TMZ.com.
Representatives for the pop star confirmed she checked in to the facility but insisted she was not treated for substance abuse.
"Selena voluntarily spent time at Meadows but not for substance abuse," her reps said in a statement obtained by RadarOnline.com.
It is still unclear why exactly Gomez sought professional help, but an insider claims she has no interest in returning to complete the 6-week program.
"She will not return to rehab now that everyone knows she went to rehab. Her team had hoped that if they revealed that she sought treatment, that she would consider returning but it actually worked the opposite," a source told HollywoodLife.com.
The former Disney star had a difficult year in 2013 following her public split from Justin Bieber, 19, and fans continue to speculate whether the break up had anything to do with her seeking professional help. The pair split in May after three years of dating, but they reunited in early January, just days before Gomez checked into rehab.
The actress reportedly does not believe she needs further help, however those close to her believe otherwise.
"She is going against her family and friends' advice, which she always does, and she will not get the help she needs," the insider explained.
"They are in it for the long haul and not making Selena's life very easy right now," the source continued. "She wants to return to work, they aren't letting her. She wants to see Justin, they aren't letting her ... It's step by step and going very slow but they are hoping Selena realizes she needs help and will obtain it."
