Sinead O'Connor Asks Fans to 'Pray' for Husband
After admitting to ending her 18-day marriage, Sinead O’Connor has recently asked fans to pray for her husband following the split.
The singer explained that she had rushed into marriage to substance-abuse counselor, Barry Herridge, and requested prayers for him.
“Please pray for my lovely husband to be ok,” O’Connor wrote. “Do not worry about me as I have had plenty of practice in these matters. I am in a good place in life.”

O’Connor admitted that a search for marijuana after she and Herridge exchanged nuptials in Las Vegas may have caused strains in the relationship. Still, she maintained that she is happy despite her recent split.
“No matter what. I am a 21st century full woman and proud of living it. I am in a very good and happy and strong place in life so I am doing fine,” O’Connor said on her website.
Although the 45-year-old singer seems to be handling her recent split well, some people took to Twitter to berate the singer while others poked fun at her situation.
“Sinead O'Connor ends her marriage after 18 days,” one person tweeted. “The singer is shouting out congrats to Kardashian and Humphries for sticking it out so long."
Still, Dr. Bob Burbee from National Institute of Marriage said that people should not judge celebrities who are undergoing seemingly trendy divorces.
“Should someone elect to end their marriage by seeking divorce we prefer to not sit in judgment but find ways to attend to both spouses for the purpose of healing and learning,” Burbee told The Christian Post.
However, some have shown concern at people’s commonplace approach to divorce, with O’Connor joining a list of short celebrity marriages like Kim Kardashian’s 72-day legal marriage.
Mike and Trisha Fox, Christian-based marriage coaches from Marriage For Today, spoke about the importance of marriage despite the media’s approach to the matter.
“Marriage is and will always be our foundation for family, relationship and the fundamental structure to which all peoples far and near stem from,” the pair wrote in a Christian Post article titled The End of Marriage – Declaring War on Traditional Marriage. “And not only marriage, but traditional, Godly marriage – between a man and woman.”
