Spike TV to Air 'Video Game Awards 2011' December 10 (VIDEOS)

Spike TV will air the much-anticipated “Video Game Awards 2011” special next Saturday.

Gamers everywhere will be treated to first-time game reveals, a new host, plenty of guest stars and awards for the biggest games of the year.

Some of the categories for this year's show are Game of the Year, Fighting Game of the Year, Most Anticipated Game, and Trailer of the Year. Spike's first ever Video Game Hall of Fame award will be given to The Legend of Zelda franchise.

Valve's "Portal 2" has the most nominations in 12 categories. Rocksteady Studios' "Batman: Arkham City" trails behind with 10 nominations.

The VGA's will also honor the founding founders of Blizzard Entertainment - Michael Morhaime, Allen Adham, and Frank Pearce. They will be presented with the Gamer God Award for their efforts in creating games such as "World of Warcraft," "Starcraft" and "Diablo."

The main attraction for the VGA's this year is the new game reveals. Several videos have made the rounds on the Internet.

World premiers will be shown for the upcoming releases listed below.

1. "Transformers: Fall of Cybertron"

2. The next "Alan Wake"

 

3. "Metal Gear Solid: Rising"

4. A new series from developer Bioware.

5. "BioShock Infinite"
 6. "Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Patriots"
 7. An unannounced PS3 exclusive.

Casey Patterson, executive producer and executive VP of event production of talent and studio relations for Viacom Entertainment Group, recently spoke about the show's host.

"Zac Levi is an avid gamer who is truly a part of gaming culture and understands the fans,” said Patterson.

The Hollywood Reporter listed the guest stars for the show: "Presenters include Family Guy's Seth Green, who voices the Joker in the ‘Mass Effect’ game series, LL Cool J, American Reunion stars Jason Biggs and Seann William Scott and former San Francisco 49ers and NFL Hall of Famers Joe Montana and Jerry Rice."

The VGA 2011 will be shown on Spike TV at 8 p.m. on Dec. 10. The show will air live from Los Angeles and be viewable on MTV2 and Spike’s website.
