Springsteen 'We Take Care' Song Adopted by Obama, Not Uplifting (VIDEO)

Bruce Springsteen has released the video to one of the songs off of his newest album Wrecking Ball. The song, titled "We Take Care of Our Own" has also been elected by the Obama re-election campaign but some have failed to find the song very inspiring.

The seemingly patriotic song appears to have been named after its chorus. "We take care of our own. Wherever this flag's flown. We take care of our own," Springsteen sings. The song seems expected coming from an artist who became known for his hit "Born in the USA".

Springsteen also backed the 2008 Obama election and in 2009 was the musical opener for the Obama Inaugural Celebration. The singer/songwriter, who tours with his band the E Street team, is known for his American sentiments. He also supported the presidential campaign of John Kerry and is said to have made substantial financial contributions to various workers' unions both in America and in Europe.

Springsteen's song begins, "I've been knockin' on the door that holds the throne. I've been lookin' for the map that leads me home. I've been stumblin' on good hearts turned to stone. The road of good intentions has gone dry as bone. We take care of our own"

One Huffington Post blog user had a hard time agreeing with the message that Springsteen was conveying. "I wish it were true that we take care of our own. Unfortunately we have to take care of everyone else in the world first," ssj455 wrote.

Forbes commented that the song's message wasn't exactly motivational. "Springsteen's latest hit, "We Take Care of Our Own" is a lot like "Born In the USA." It's got a catchy chorus– "Where ever this flag's flown/We take care of our own"–that will surely become a sing-along during Springsteen's upcoming world tour. But like "Born in the USA," the song's message is anything but uplifting," Allen St. John wrote.
