Sprint iPhone 5 Release Rumor: 2 Weeks Blacked Out to Prepare for Launch
Sprint is blacking out two weeks in its employees’ schedules to prep for the launch of a big device, which could possibly be the iPhone 5, according to SprintFeed.com.
The website provides a snapshot of one of the company’s internal memos that tells Sprint employees that its “blacking out September 30 through October 15,” which could be due to the possibility of a major phone release for October.
The iPhone 5 is rumored to be released in early to mid October.
Rumors for that date hit the Internet sometime last month.
The news that the iPhone was coming to Sprint also hit the Internet shortly after the release date rumors surfaced.
SprintFeed weighs out the possibility of the blackout pertaining to other popular smartphones such as the Epic 4G Touch.
However, with information on that device already “out of the bag,” the site is certain that this move made by Sprint will most likely be geared towards releasing the iPhone 5 along with training its employees and preparing them for the release date and aftermath of sales.
Sprint also revealed recently that it will be the first service provider who will offer unlimited data plans for customers using the iPhone.
Sprint will also carry Samsung’s Android powered Galaxy S II, which the company hopes will become the iPhones biggest rival.
With Sprint releasing the Galaxy S this week, all signs further points to the blackout being geared towards the release of the next generation iPhone.
9to5 Mac reported last month that the iPhone 5 will probably be available on Oct. 7.
The Sprint blackout will take place from Sept. 30 to Oct. 15, so that release date conveniently falls in between, leaving plenty of room for pre-orders for the new iPhone to begin in late September.
