Steve Jobs Death Remembered on 1-Year Anniversary Today

Friday marks the first anniversary of the death of Steve Jobs and people across the globe are memorializing Apple's former CEO.

"I would like to put a ding in the universe," Jobs once said during a speech. He was the inventor of the iPad, Ipod, iPhone, and several other game-changing devices that were at "the intersection of art and technology." Jobs guided Apple from a company in serious financial trouble to becoming the richest company in the world.

Celebrities, politicians, and techies everywhere grieved the co-founder of Apple who "put a ding in the universe" when he died at age 56 last year.

President Barack Obama said of the visionary, "There may be no greater tribute to Steve's success than the fact that much of the world learned of his death on a device he invented."

On Friday, exactly one year after Jobs' death, people are still paying tributes to Jobs.

Charlie wrote, "Can't believe Steve Jobs passed away a year ago today… What a legend! #rememberingsteve"

Moreover, many Twitter users are remembering Jobs by posting some of his world-famous quotes, including Arianna Huffington who posted, "'Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice,' –Steve Jobs."

Saks Fifth Avenue wrote on Twitter: "'The only way to do great work it to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle.' –Steve Jobs"

"Steve Jobs changed this world like no other, ruled the world and gave us apple," wrote Charlotte. "Thank you Steve Jobs for your genius!"

As another homage to the visionary, Twitter users started a campaign on the social media site Friday called iCancer to help raise money for a cancer cure.

On Apple's website, the leading technological company posted a video featuring Jobs' as well as images and stories about his life.

Jobs is survived by his wife Laurene and four children.
