'Stranger Things' Fails to Bag a Single Emmy Award

There is a saying that goes "you can't win them all." Sometimes, however, not even a single thing is won even by those who are expected to triumph.

That is exactly what happened to Netflix's original hit series "Stranger Things" at the 2017 Primetime Emmy Awards. According to a report from Independent, the show received five nominations, including Best Drama, Best Supporting Actor (David Harbour) and Best Supporting Actress (Millie Bobby Brown).

When the dust settled and the smoke cleared, the show failed to bag a single award. The outcome of the awards for "Stranger Things" came as a big surprise for observers who considered the show to be one of the strongest contenders this year.

Aside from "Stranger Things," another big loser was HBO's science fiction thriller, "Westworld." The show also received several major nominations like Best Drama, Outstanding Lead Actor and Lead Actress in a Drama Series, and Best Supporting Actor and Actress in a Drama Series.

"The Handmaid's Tale" took home the Best Drama Series award with actress Elisabeth Moss from the same show bagging Best Actress. Sterling K. Brown won Best Actor in a Drama Series for "This Is Us" while "Veep" snatched the Best Comedy Series award.

Despite the setback, the young stars of "Stranger Things" still enjoyed the time of their lives as they walked the Emmys red carpet. Time reported that the child stars Brown, Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), and Noah Schnapp (Will) were all present for the awarding ceremonies.

Moreover, social media also went crazy upon seeing the child stars walk the red carpet. Tweets left and right were posted, praising the children for their stylish getup.

Meanwhile, the character Will Byers played by Schnapp will have a more "sinful role" in the show's second season. Co-creator Ross Duffer shared the detail in a recent interview with Us Weekly. "Noah is just an incredible actor and he really didn't get a lot to do season 1," said Duffer.

He said that Byers will play a "much more sinful role, which we're really excited about."

"Stranger Things" season 2 streams on Oct. 27 on Netflix.
