'Stranger Things' season 3 news: Sean Astin Reveals Truth About Bob; Will Steve Die?
Sean Astin revealed that his character wasn't supposed to last long in season 2 of "Stranger Things." Meanwhile, there are already several predictions for season 3, which includes Joe Keery's Steve dying.
Fans of the sci-fi Netflix series, created by Matt and Ross Duffer, fell in love with Astin's Bob Newby in season 2. Astin, whose character played Joyce's (Winona Ryder) boyfriend and hero to the gang, shared that his character was meant to die earlier in the series.
"The earliest hints were, 'You're not going to last long!'" Astin shared with Yahoo! about what the Duffer brothers had planned for him. However, the whole crew soon realized that Bob had something special to contribute.
"The only thing I said out loud to them was: 'I would love it if Bob did something heroic,'" Astin added, revealing what led to Bob's courageous act of saving the whole gang at Hawkins Lab.
For those who are hopeful that Bob's character could return alive in "Stranger Things" season 3 in some way, Astin confirmed that Bob won't be coming back and that there's no need to give him justice the way the show had for Barb (Shannon Purser).
"Bob is good and dead. But there's no need for #JusticeforBob. Bob has justice. He died in the line of duty. Bob had a skill set equal to the moment, and he did his job to save his girl and her family because he knew how, so that's it," Astin explained.
Although season 3 won't be premiering anytime soon, fans already have their predictions and expectations of what to see next, and one of them is Steve dying.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Steve staying in Hawkins doesn't make much sense anymore since he's supposed to be heading to college next year, especially now that he's not dating Nancy (Natalia Dyer) anymore.
A possible scenario for Steve in season 3 is that he comes home to Hawkins for during a college break, and he sacrifices himself to save the gang from the harms of the Upside Down.
Season 3 of "Stranger Things" is anticipated to premiere in 2018.
