Target Pulls Offensive 'Think of Whitney Houston' Greeting Card

Card: 'The Next Time You Think of Dating the Bad Boy, Think of Whitney Houston'

Target has decided to remove an offensive greeting card from stores, which makes Whitney Houston an example of why one shouldn't date a "bad boy." Some customers however, don't find the card offensive and think that it should stay on the shelves.

Although the name of the company which developed the card was not disclosed, Target confirmed its decision to pull the card from stores in light of Houston's recent death.

"It's still too soon to make Whitney Houston jokes- at least according to the people at Target, who have decided to pull a greeting card from their shelves that mocks the late singing legend," TMZ reported.

"The next time you think of dating the bad boy, think of Whitney Houston. That's all I'm going to say," the card reads. The card was at some point slightly funny, according to TMZ.

"The card was kinda funny before she died- but now that Whitney's gone, Target has decided it's a tad too offensive ... at least for now ... and is currently in the process of yanking it from its stores," reads the website.

Target explained that the card was not produced after Houston's death.

"The card was in our stores prior to Ms. Houston's death. As soon as this was brought to our attention, we began the process of removing the card from all applicable stores," stated the company.

While some found the card offensive, many others disagreed with Target taking it off shelves.

"The fact that she died is what makes this card poignant, current, and a powerful statement. Not to mention HILARIOUS! I would give that card to 20 people right now. I'm wishing I could," the user chzbrgrmachne wrote on the TMZ blog.

"Target should get a grip and allow their customers to make those choices...! Pulling the cards is disrespectful to their customers and Whitney!" another user, awards, wrote.

"I don't think it is in bad taste at all....going to get one and send it to my daughter," Dianna added.
