Taylor Lautner on Fake Magazine Cover

A crafty computer person used a digitally altered picture of Taylor Lautner and superimposed the photo on a faux People magazine cover, claiming the “Breaking Dawn” star was “Out & Proud.”

The photograph was supposedly placed on the cover of the January 7 issue of People. The image of the cover has been making its way through various internet circles.

The statement on the bottom of the crafted cover which is underneath the photo of Lautner reads, “Tired of rumors, the ‘Twilight star ‘opens up about his decision to finally come out. I’m more liberated, and happier than I’ve ever been.’”

A spokesperson for People told Gossip Cop at the beginning of the week that the cover was "absolutely fake." The spokesperson went on to elaborate the cover was made using Photoshop.

Gossip Cop explained that the cover included outdated pictures of Brad Pitt and Carnie Wilson which were found in the sidebar of the cover.

Numerous fans of the actor on Twitter and Facebook were duped by the cover. It was thought that Lautner's recent breakup from "Abduction" co-star Lily Collins helped propel the rumors along.

While some pushed the rumor into the limelight others came to the defense of Lautner. Clothing connoisseur and Def Jam star Russell Simmons tweeted about the reported rumor congratulating the “Twilight" star for raising above all the negativity and remaining cool while vicious people circulated the false rumors.

"Proud of Taylor Lautner for his bravery and his courage," Simmons tweeted. "Disappointed that people would joke about someone coming out about their sexuality. Let Taylor Lautner be whoever he wants to be..."

Taylor Lautner most recently made an appearance on the "Tonight Show with Jay Leno" in November. While on the talk show Lautner confirmed his split with Lily Collins and also declared he was single.
