Taylor Swift Boyfriend Rumors Quelled: He's a 'Grown Man'
Taylor Swift has long been rumored to be dating Conor Kennedy, but the country music star has finally commented on the relationship in a recent interview.
Retaliating against Entertainment Tonight's reference to a report where Swift "kidnapped" Kennedy by flying him to Nashville, the singer said explained that her rumored boyfriend was a "grown man."
"You can't kidnap a grown man," Swift told the Huffington Post. "These are serious accusations, now! It's an interesting way to spin something into a story. See, this is why I don't read this stuff."
Swift, 22, first became romantically linked to Kennedy, a high school senior of Deerfield Academy boarding school, over the summer. Kennedy, 18, is the grandson of the late Robert F. Kennedy. He and Swift have been photographed multiple times while holding hands and kissing near the Kennedy's family compound in Hyannis Port, Mass.
In addition to defending herself against "kidnapping" Kennedy, Swift dispelled reports of she and her boyfriend "crashing" one of Kennedy's cousin's weddings over the summer while speaking to Rolling Stone.
Swift was reportedly asked to leave by the bride's mother, Victoria Gifford Kennedy, after angering the Kennedy family. The singer allegedly attended the wedding unannounced and distracted attention from the newlyweds, according to The Boston Herald.
"I have no idea what happened there," Swift told the magazine of the tabloids following the wedding. "I think that story was based on the biggest misunderstanding, 'cause I would never knowingly show up somewhere that I thought I wasn't invited to. And I would never want to upstage anybody."
Moreover, the "I Knew You Were Trouble" singer opened up about love, dropping hints at her relationship with Kennedy.
"The way I look at love is you have to follow it, and fall hard, if you fall hard," explained the country music darling. Swift added that she falls in love regardless of the misgivings of other people, possibly referring to the criticism against Kennedy's age.
"You have to forget about what everyone else thinks," continued the singer. "It has to be us-against-the-world mentality. You have to make it work by prioritizing it, and by falling in love really fast, without thinking too hard. If I think too hard about a relationship I'll talk myself out of it … I have rules for a lot of area of my life. Love is not going to be one of them," she told the magazine.
Swift is featured on the cover of Rolling Stones' October issue. Meanwhile, her next album "Red" will hit stores on Oct. 22.
