Taylor Swift Lands TV Role on 'New Girl'

Taylor Swift is exchanging her singing skills for acting on Fox's television series "New Girl," according to reports on Thursday.

The "I Knew You Were Trouble" singer will appear on the season finale of the comedy series airing this May, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Since its debut in 2011, "New Girl" starring Zooey Deschanel has swept ratings and has scored several impressive guest stars along the way.

For the season two finale, Swift will appear as an "important guest" at the wedding between characters Cece and Shivrang, according to reports. Hannah Simone and Satya Bhabba portray the characters, respectively.

The final episode of the season will feature Swift as well as the "New Girl" cast- Deschanel, Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield and Lamorne Morris. It will air on Fox on May 14.

Earlier this month, Fox renewed "New Girl" for a third season.

Swift is expected to boost the show's ratings for the season finale. The country music darling will not be the first guest star to garner positive ratings for a sitcom. Last year, Miley Cyrus appeared on two episodes of "Two and a Half Men," giving the show season-high ratings.

Cyrus' appearance episode drew 13.6 million viewers and a 4.0 rating in the adults' ages 18 to 49 demographic: a 14 percent jump from last week, E! News reported.

Meanwhile, Swift's "Red" tour, named after her latest album, kicked off in Omaha earlier this month. Her hit songs "I Knew You Were Trouble" and "Never Ever Getting Back Together" are both off of the singer's fourth album.

The singer is slated to headline 58 shows in 45 cities in 29 states and three provinces this year. The tour will run through September before going abroad.

"I didn't think I could be any more excited about my RED album, but then I start thinking about how I'm going to put the new show together for The RED Tour," said Swift, according to her website. "I have so many ideas about how to really bring this music to life, and I can't wait to share the new show with all my fans!"
