Taylor Swift, Wedding Crasher? Kennedy Family Angered
'Please Do Not Come,' Said Gifford Kennedy
Amidst her new romance with Conor Kennedy, Taylor Swift reportedly crashed a Kennedy family members' wedding over the weekend.
Swift, 22, and Kennedy, 18, attended the wedding celebration of Kyle Kennedy and her groom Liam Kerr in Boston on Saturday despite allegedly failing to RSVP to the event.
While the country music singer maintained that she was invited, the bride's mother, Victoria Gifford Kennedy, told the Boston Herald that not only was Swift not invited, but that she asked the singer not to attend the wedding festivities.
"They texted me an hour before the wedding and asked if they could come," explained Gifford Kennedy of Swift and her new beau. "I responded with a very clear, 'Please do not come.' They came any way."
Outraged, the mother-of-the-bride was blown away by Swift's blatant disregard for the clear message. Gifford Kennedy did not want Swift and Kennedy attending because she did not want to Grammy Award-winning singer distracting from her daughter's special day.
Unsurprisingly, Swift's appearance at the event reportedly caused commotion in the lobby of the venue, with fans taking pictures and asking for autographs.
"I personally went up to Ms. Swift, whose entrance distracted the entire event, politely introduced myself to her, and asked her as nicely as I could to leave," continued Gifford Kennedy to the Boston Herald.
"It was like talking to a ghost," she added of Swift. "She seemed to look right past me."
Although Swift and her boyfriend left during the reception, Gifford Kennedy said they returned after the dinner portion of the night and spent the remainder of the celebration dancing.
Paula Erikson, Swift's representative, denied the claims of Gifford Kennedy and added that the bride was glad to see the singer.
"There is no truth to that," Erikson told the New York Post. "Taylor was invited to the wedding and the bride thanked her profusely for being there."
Whether she was invited or not, one onlooker at the Fairmont Copley Plaza hotel where the wedding took place confirmed seeing Swift being asked to leave on Saturday, the Boston Herald reported.
Although she has been spotted getting cozy with Kennedy near his family's compound in Hyannis Port, Mass., the couple has not commented on their burgeoning romance.
Conor Kennedy is the son of Mary Kennedy, who committed suicide in May. Swift is reportedly helping him cope with the tragedy.
