TBN Celebrates America's 'Spiritual Heritage' This 4th Of July Weekend

Trinity Broadcasting Network, the world’s largest religious network, will be celebrating this year’s Fourth of July weekend by airing a series of specials that highlight the “spiritual heritage” of our nation, according to a press release.

On Saturday, the “fireworks” begin at 2:30 with the documentary “Warriors of Honor,” which tells the story of two, “masterful generals, brilliant strategists and, above all, faithful Christians,” in southerners Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson.

Author and historian Steve Wilkins praised “Warriors” as a documentary that finally, “is willing to speak plainly about the Christian faith of Jackson and Lee. It is a beautiful and accurate account of two great Southern leaders and of a war that forever changed our country.”

On Sunday, TBN is offering a trip to the White House with “A Salute to Gospel Music: Celebrating American’s Musical Heritage.” Beginning at 7:00 pm, the special will feature a special introduction from President Bush and Mrs. Bush followed by performances from a variety of Gospel artists including Shirley Caesar, Blind Boys of Alabama, Gaither Vocal Band, Jump 5, Steven Curtis Chapman, Jaci Velasquez, The Martins, Twila Paris, Yolanda Adams, CeCe Winans, and Michael W. “Millions of Americans have turned their faith into song through Gospel music,” said President Bush during the original February 14th event. “From its roots in rural churches to its popularity on radio, this music has lifted our hearts and lightened our burdens for generations.”

To close out the long weekend TBN will be presenting, “a patriotic salute to the congressional ‘Medal of Honor.’”

A summary from a press release reads: “Hear actual Medal of Honor recipients recount the circumstances that surrounded their earning of this highly coveted medal while sharing their feelings for our nation and for soldiers who fought alongside them.”
