'The Flash' Spoilers: Sneak Peek Reveals Speed, Deeper Look at Barry Allen
The CW released another sneak peek at the upcoming brand-new television series "The Flash."
A spin-off of "The Arrow," the DC Comics-inspired series stars Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, a police scientist who acquired supernatural speed after being struck by lightning. The latest trailer for "The Flash" reveals the moment Barry realizes his power while speeding down airport runways.
"Barry is exhibiting things that are not possible, and yet are happening," actor Tom Cavanagh narrates as S.T.A.R. Labs boss Harrison Wells during the clip. "Our team, at least initially, seems like we're just trying to examine and determine why he can do the things that he can do. But there's much more to it than that."
The first trailer for "The Flash" surfaced earlier this year and introduced a cast that includes Cavanagh as well as Candice Patton in the role of Iris West- Barry's quick-witted best friend. Iris is also the daughter of Barry's father figure, CCPD Detective West, portrayed by "Law & Order" star Jesse L. Martin. Moreover, Chad Rook portrays the villainous Weather Wizard while the CW network hired the original "The Flash" actor John Wesley Shipp who played the superhero in 1990s to appear. Shipp will portray, Henry Allen, father of Barry.
"Given his history with 'The Flash,' [executive producers] Andrew [Kreisberg], Geoff [Johns] and I could only think of one person we wanted to play Barry's father and that was John Wesley Shipp," said executive producer Greg Berlanti in a statement. "He gives us a fantastic and emotional performance in the pilot and we are looking forward to his presence in many more episodes. Also, personally, it was just wonderful to work with him again since my days at 'Dawson's Creek.' He's a great actor and a great guy."
The CW also announced that "The Flash" would air in the coveted Tuesday 8 p.m. EST time slot, beginning this Fall.
