The Freedom of Truth

There has never been a time when we've needed to know what we believe and why we believe it more than right now. We also need to have the courage to hold on to those beliefs and stand up for them. We need to stop being ashamed of the Gospel and face with confidence those who may come against us.

Why do I say that? Because when we choose to believe a lie, we allow ourselves to be put in bondage. But when we believe in the truth, it will set us free. Truth really does set us free!

Every day that goes by puts us closer to the day when Christ will return. Even though we don't know exactly when that will be, we do know the season. We can tell by the things that are happening in the world that the day of Christ's return is getting closer and closer. And the shorter the devil's time is, the harder he will fight against us.

The Bible teaches us that as the final days approach, deception is going to become very, very great. More and more people will be distracted by lies and buy into false teachings. So it is critical that we know how to recognize the truth and be prepared to stand up for it-no matter how much resistance we might encounter.

Since the beginning of time people have been crying out to know what truth is. The great quest of life has always been to discover truth. John 14:6 says, Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me (The Amplified Bible)

Jesus declares in this passage that He is the Truth! It's not only in Him as a spiritual principle. Truth was a "fruit" of His everyday life when He walked the earth.

In the dictionary, truth is defined as "fact, real, constant, faithful, always the same, trusted, reliable, confident, something you can believe in. For example, if the weatherman says it's 100 degrees outside, then I can be 100 percent sure if I go outside, it will be hot. No question about it…100 degrees means that it will be hot outside. It's never going to change. It's always going to be that way. That's the truth.

So if what I'm believing is true, if I'm putting my life into something that I believe is true, I should be getting a result that I'm happy with. When I choose to base my life on the foundation of truth, I am building on a strong foundation-one that will never fail.

So how do you learn to recognize the truth? You have to study. That's true of almost anything. If you want to do something well, you have to put some time into it. Whether it's music or sports or school or business, if you want to be a success, you've got to spend the time necessary to become excellent.
Recognizing truth is no different. If you want to establish truth as the foundation of your life, you must spend time studying truth. You must spend time in God's Word. It's critical in these confusing times for us to learn to discern the difference between truth and deception, because the chains that the devil uses to tie us up are made from the lies we choose to believe.

The world says that there is no absolute truth. The world says that every man can establish his own definition of what truth is. But that's a lie. Jesus is the Truth! His ways and His Word are truth, and when you base your life on that strong foundation, you will really be free.

Make the decision today to stop messing around. Stop believing a little bit of the Bible and a little bit of what the world says. Stop believing some of the news and some of Jesus, some of this and some of that. Make up your mind about what you believe and why you believe it. Take a stand on the truth!
