The Situation Leaves Rehab 'Better Than Ever'
The Situation left rehab in Cirque Lodge, Utah, where he was being treated for a prescription medication problem and possibly alcoholism, according to reports.
Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino of "Jersey Shore" first admitted to his "prescription medication problem [he] had due to exhaustion," he stated. Now, TMZ spotted him coming back from an airport, fresh from his experience and better than ever.
"The Situation is home!! I just want to thank everyone for their support and words of encouragement," the 29-year-old wrote on Facebook. "I'm back stronger and better than ever!"
During the latest taping of the hit reality show "Jersey Shore," the star was "acting paranoid," sweating profusely, and his prescription medication problem was "getting worse."
After reports broke of The Situation's problems, he initially denied the reports, tweeting "Do NOT Believe Everything you Hear, Especially from TMZ."
His representative also came forward to deny the reports as nothing more than rumors.
"We are not confirming any reports of any substance abuse … that is not correct," the rep said, adding that Sorrentino needed "rest and recuperation."
However, after many persisted with reports that he had checked into rehab Sorrentino admitted he had a problem, and had sought treatment.
"I want to set the record straight. I have voluntarily taken steps to get control of a prescription medication problem I had due to exhaustion," stated the reality star.
Now that Sorrentino proclaims that he is back to fitting form, the true test will come during the filming of the next season of "Jersey Shore," which will boast a new dynamic because cast member Snooki is pregnant. Vincent "Vinny" Guadagnino, another cast member of the popular show, believes Sorrentino will be fine as long as he has the support of his friends and family.
"I know people who go through things like that and are fine so it just depends on the situation he's in," the actor told Bang Showbiz. "We'll find a way to make it work, we're a family, we like to have fun."
Frank Sorrentino, Mike's father, told The New York Daily News that this wasn't the first time his son has been to rehab, however. When The Situation was just Mike Sorrentino, a 27-year-old underwear model, he previously struggled with substance abuse and needed treatment.
