'The Young and the Restless' Cast News, Spoilers: Could Michael Muhney Return As Adam Newman?

"The Young and the Restless" returns to daytime television this week, but fans are wondering when they will see the return of the beloved character Adam Newman.

The character has not made an official appearance on "Y&R" since January- one month after the firing of the actor who portrayed Adam, Michael Muhney. The actor exited the soap opera amidst sexual harassment accusations including the groping of cast member Hunter King (Summer Newman). Although he denied the accusations, Muhney's character disappeared and he has not returned to the popular soap, despite news that Adam is alive.

Consequent of Muhney's controversial exit, "Y&R" fans have remained divided, with many already boycotting the show and eagerly campaigning to get Muhney back on to the soap. The actor has a large fan base who are hoping that Muhney and King can put aside their differences on the set of "Y&R." Furthermore, the fans have stated that they will boycott the television series if any other actor appears in the role of Adam.

Nevertheless, recent reports have indicated that "Y&R" show runners, including producer Jill Farren Phelps, are seeking a new actor for the role of Adam.

"The soap is actively searching for an actor to succeed Michael Muhney in the role, and in early April contenders will be considered," CBS Soaps In Depth reported.

The report also suggests that "Y&R" producers have already hired an actor after the early April auditions and are preparing to reintroduce Adam in the near future since it was revealed that the character is very much alive. While it remains to be seen who will fill the role of Adam, rumors of Muhney's possible return arrive just weeks after the actor finally broke his silence on social media; he had not tweeted since the firing scandal in January.

"Lotta good people in this world," he wrote on April 28- almost six months after his firing. "I'm thankful each and every day for the overwhelming love."
