Tim Tebow to Speak at Celebration Church's 'Easter on the Hill' Event
The Celebration Church, located in Austin, Texas, announced Monday that Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow will be a guest speaker at its Easter Sunday event, "Easter on the Hill," scheduled for April 8.
"Celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ with thousands throughout the Austin metroplex on top of one of the highest points in Central Texas," reads the event's official website.
The outdoor event, expected to usher in about 20,000 Austin-area families for one of the most celebrated Christian holy days, will take place beginning at 10 a.m. on the church's 110-acre Westinghouse campus in Georgetown, Texas. Easter Sunday marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and is perhaps one of the most highly-attended church services all year for believers.
"It's a great time to use the property that the Lord gave to us several years ago and it's always been our vision to see people worshiping out on that hill. On the heels of our 12th year anniversary, it's going to be amazing," said Lori Champion, Celebration Church co-pastor, in a statement.
The free event, "Easter on the Hill," is the first-ever outdoor Easter service sponsored by Celebration Church.
Celebration Church has multiple campuses and boasts a weekly attendance of 6,000, according to the church's official website.
Tebow, 24, is a dedicated Christian who has impacted popular culture and fellow believers with his displays of faith on and off the field. Through his public displays of faith, Tebow started the trend dubbed "Tebowing," which involves bending one knee and praying.
"As the son of an NFL coach, and also someone who came to know Christ thanks to two NFL players who were willing to share the Gospel with me, I am extremely excited to have Tim Tebow with us this year. We believe this year's service will impact the lives of those who would never enter the doors of a church," said Joe Champion, pastor of Celebration Church.
The Easter service will take place at the Westinghouse campus, located at 1202 Rabbit Hill Road in Georgetown. Gates open at 8 a.m., and the service begins at 10 a.m. Participants are encouraged to arrive early and bring a blanket and a snack for the worship service.
