According to a Wednesday New York Times report, Wendy Rush, the wife of OceanGate's CEO, is the great-great-granddaughter of Titanic passengers Isidor and Ida Straus.

The CEO's wife is related to the wealthy Titanic passengers through one of their seven children, Minnie. According to the executive director of the Straus Historical Society, Joan Adler, Minnie's grandson, Dr. Richard Weil III, is Rush's father.

Isidor Straus, an American Jewish businessman and a co-owner of Macy's department store, reportedly refused to enter a lifeboat during the sinking of the ship, ensuring women and children were a priority. His wife refused to leave him, and Titanic survivors said the pair stood arm and arm as the ship went down.
