Tom Brady 'Victory Party' Comments Outrage Giants Fans
The Tom Brady victory party is set. The New England Patriots quarterback is so sure of a Super Bowl victory over the New York Giants that he reportedly has already planned his victory party.
It's a move reminiscent of past predictions and taken almost directly from Joe Namath playbook. The former New York Jets quarterback once predicted victory so confidently, he did so while lounging pool-side, rather than practicing.
It's a move that's getting Giants fans irked, though.
Brady announced the victory party in front of 25,000 Patriots fans at a rally for the team.
"We're going down there, and we're going down there for one reason. We're going to give it our best and hopefully we'll have a lot more people at our party next weekend," Brady told the crowd.
After arriving in Indianapolis, Brady defended his provocative comments.
"It was a pep rally," Brady told reporters. "Certainly the players were excited, I know that 25,000 fans who were there were excited as well so ... we had great support home and away. Hopefully we'll have some Patriots jerseys in the stands next Sunday night."
The game, which is schedule for Sunday, is a rematch of Super Bowl XLII, when the Giants beat the then-undefeated Patriots.
Both teams had a grueling run in the playoffs to make it to the Super Bowl.
The Patriots worked through a lineup that included top-ranked teams, like the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens. The Giants beat the Atlanta Falcons, top-ranked Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers.
No one can predict who will win the game. The playoffs saw some upsets and a slew of extremely close games, with one score separating winner from loser.
Other comments by players are likely to be said this week and flair up the rivalry between these two teams, as they both head into another Super Bowl looking for a win.
