Twitter, eBay, Instagram make ‘Dirty Dozen List’ of businesses profiting off sexual exploitation
Discord
Discord, a social media app that was created to allow video game players, many of whom are younger, to socialize while playing games online, made the Dirty Dozen List this year.
NCOSE stated that Discord “enables exploiters to directly contact and groom children, to share deepfakes and other forms of image-based sexual abuse, and it has shockingly ineffective parental controls.”
“Given how unsafe it is, NCOSE recommends that Discord ban minors from using the platform until it is radically transformed,” added NCOSE.
“Discord should also consider banning pornography until substantive age and consent verification for sexually explicit material can be implemented — otherwise, IBSA and CSAM will continue to plague the platform.”
Discord previously made the Dirty Dozen List last year, with NCOSE citing “inadequate age verification and moderation procedures” for their decision.
