CPAC: Vivek Ramaswamy warns of 3 secular religions, proposes 'national revival' not separation
Presidential candidate calls for 'declaration of independence from China'
2. Ramaswamy decried ‘three secular religions’ that have ‘America in a chokehold’
Ramaswamy also condemned the “three secular religions that have America in a chokehold.” He identified the “woke racial religion that says your identity is based on your skin color” as the first problematic ideology engulfing the U.S.
According to Ramaswamy, the ideology of this religion contends “that if you’re black, you’re inherently disadvantaged, that if you’re white, you’re inherently privileged no matter your economic background or your upbringing — that your race determines who you are and what you can achieve in life.”
“Your race goes from being about your skin color to being about the content and the ideas you’re allowed to espouse and any disagreement with those ideas automatically makes you a racist,” he added, noting that “there’s no greater damnation in modern America than to be called a racist.”
Ramaswamy lamented that “when given the choice between pledging allegiance to this new religion and being tarred with a scarlet R, that’s when everyday Americans started to bend the knee.”
The second “secular religion” singled out by Ramaswamy rests on the premise that “the sex of the person you’re attracted to has to be hardwired on the day you were born” while “your own biological sex is completely fluid over the course of your lifetime.” This ideology has had implications for women’s sports as states and school districts embrace policies allowing men to enter women's private spaces if they self-identify as female, and vice versa.
Naming the third secular faith as “the climate religion,” Ramaswamy declared that some believe “we have to fight carbon emissions at all costs in the United States while we shift those same climate emissions to places like China.” He maintained that the “climate religion is about actually shackling America itself” because it “shackles the United States while leaving China untouched.” He concluded that the climate religion “is about power, dominion, control, punishment and apologizing for what we have achieved in this country and the modern west as we know it.”
After naming the three secular religions, Ramaswamy asked, “What’s really going on here?” “We are in the middle of a national identity crisis in America.”
“My generation, really every generation of Americans today, we’re so hungry for a cause, we’re hungry for purpose and meaning and identity at a point in our national history when the things that used to fill our hunger for purpose: faith, patriotism, hard work, family” have “disappeared,” he said. “We’re hungry to be part of something bigger than ourselves, yet we cannot even answer the question of what it means to be an American today.”
Ramaswamy cited the loss of an American national identity as an “opportunity for the conservative movement to rise to the occasion and fill that void with a vision of American national identity that runs so deep that it dilutes this woke poison to irrelevance.”
