3. Ramaswamy pledged to eliminate affirmative action, the Department of Education and the FBI
Stressing his belief in the idea of meritocracy, Ramaswamy reiterated his vow from his campaign announcement to “get rid of affirmative action in this country once and for all.” He described affirmative action, which takes race into consideration in certain hiring decisions and entry into college, as a purported effort to account for past racial discrimination in the U.S., as “a national cancer on our soul,” declaring, “we are done with it.”
He also identified the U.S. Department of Education as the “first agency we will shut down and need to shut down.” Echoing the rhetoric of Republican and conservative politicians who have long supported abolishing the agency, Ramaswamy asserted that “it has no reason to exist” and “never should have existed.”
Ramaswamy then addressed concerns about the FBI abusing its power: “It is finally time to shut down the FBI in America [and] create something new to take its place.”

The agency has most recently come under fire for conducting an early morning raid on the family home of pro-life activist Mark Houck for purportedly violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act while taking comparatively little action to bring to justice those responsible for torching and vandalizing pro-life pregnancy centers and churches following the U.S. Supreme Court’s draft decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization in which a majority of justices ruled that the U.S. Constitution does not contain a right to abortion.
