Vonn: "I'm Not Just Tiger's Girlfriend" I'm an Athlete

While she may be dating one of the more famous pro golfers in the world, Lindsey Vonn is more than just a "girlfriend." She is an athlete.

Lindsey Vonn announced her relationship with professional golfer Tiger Woods about three months ago. Since then, she has become a staple presence while Woods is on tour. However, despite her interest in the pro-golfer, Vonn has declared in an interview that she is "more than just Tiger's girlfriend" and reminded the public that she has an athletic career of her own.

"Some people seem to forget that I'm not just Tiger's girlfriend," Vonn told the New York Times over the weekend . "I'm actually a successful athlete. I'm Lindsey. I have my own career and my own life."

Vonn is an Olympic skier with at least one gold medal to her credit. Just a month before her and Woods became official however, she suffered a major ski crash which left her with plenty of time to focus on her new relationship, while recovering from injury. But being with Wood's, who appears to have a more a public profile than Vonn, is not always easy according to the athlete.

"I can be normal by myself; no one notices me," she told the Times. "But wherever he's around, we're living in a fishbowl. I didn't quite know what I was getting myself into. It's weird. But it's just something I have to deal with. He has his job, and I have mine. I just have to get used to it."

And Vonn is willing to make at least a few adjustments for her new boyfriend, including attending frequent golf tournaments.

"When was I ever at golf tournaments before? I kind of like him; can you tell?" she said.

Vonn hopes to have recovered from her injury by September so she can return to the ski slopes.
