Websites Offer Discounted Gift Cards to Best Buy, Walmart and iTunes
Discounts of up to 50 percent off gift cards to major retailers like Best Buy, Walmart, Victoria’s Secret, Bass Pro Shops and iTunes are available online.
According to the TD Bank Holiday Shopping Poll released earlier this month, 64 percent of Americans say they plan to purchase a gift card this year.
The poll also forecasted that Americans will spend an average of $640 on gifts this season.

“With the majority of consumers looking to spend the same as last year, gift cards are a perfect option to keep holiday spending in check," said Nandita Bakhshi, Executive Vice President and Head of Products at TD Bank. "Giving a gift card reduces shopping stress, you spend exactly what you intend to, and are less likely to get caught up in the season and spend more money than planned."
There are resources available to savvy shoppers looking for discounted gift cards. The best resource is gift card exchange sites.
GiftCardGranny.com is an aggregator that takes all the gift cards sold online at discount and auction sites and lists them in order of price. It takes three minutes to find the store for which you’d like to buy a gift card, locate the price and compare discounts.
The site takes deals from CouponTrade.com, Ebay, ABC Gift Cards and others. Shoppers should remember that buying discount gift cards isn’t a guaranteed transaction. Most gift card sellers reduce prices on their gift cards just so they can get rid of it, but some may try to scam you. It’s beneficial to check the seller info, if provided, and to read customer feedback.
Gift cards from iTunes range from $10 to $200 and average about 15 percent off. Most iTunes cards are digital and thus carry no shipping charges.
There are more than a hundred Victoria’s Secret gift cards available for up to $500. Deals range from 10 to 50 percent off.
Best Buy gift cards are offered at up to a 25 percent discount. More than 120 gift cards for Bass Pro Shops are available at around 25 percent off, with cards carrying up to 50 percent off.
Walmart deals are sparse online, but the retailer will give away a $100 gift card with the purchase of any smartphone on Black Friday.
