Windows 8 Release Date: Tablets Being Sold on eBay
Last Tuesday, Microsoft handed out free tablets to over 5,000 people who joined its developer conference. However, a number of the tablets are now being sold on eBay for at least $2000.
The computer giant demoed its new OS - Windows 8 - at the Microsoft Build conference and handed out the free tablets which are making a good profit on the auction site.
The sellers are describing the tablet as having a 2nd Generation Intel Core i5 processor with an 11.6-inch 1366x768 pixel display, 4 gigabytes of memory, and a 64GB solid state hard drive. It is said to include HDMI, USB, and micro SD ports.
The tablet comes with a UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) BIOS, an Option chip for Wi-Fi, phone, and GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) connectivity. The product is said to be very similar to the Samsung Series 7 tablet.
The Build Conference was held Sept 13 - 16 in Anaheim, California.
The Windows 8 OS is reported to be specifically geared toward tablets and is designed to revolutionize the touchscreen device market.
A leaked Windows 8 product cycle chart lists the planning, development and readiness product cycle of Windows 8 and various other Microsoft products.
According to Windows8news.com, the site is able to pinpoint the release date of Windows 8 by making calculations based on the chart and events and products that have already been released by Microsoft.
Two of the events called Forum I and Forum II listed in Microsoft’s plans have already taken place which leaves four more Forum events to fall sometime soon.
