Windows 8 Release: Microsoft Delivers Friendlier 'Blue Screen of Death'
Microsoft debuted its Windows 8 operating system earlier this week which has interestingly included an updated “blue screen of death.”
Employees across the world know the stop error as a “blue screen of death,” and the company has now given a makeover to the page making it “friendlier” to users.
Microsoft has not changed the color of the screen as it still appears in a nice shade of blue, but have now included a sad face next to the message, “Your PC ran into a problem that it couldn’t handle, and now it needs to restart.”
The new “blue screen of death” is similar to the crash messages used by social networks such as Twitter.
The crash screen usually appeared on Windows when a PC is overwhelmed by multitasking or anything else that puts too much pressure on the system.
The BSOD has been a feature on Windows since the early days of Bill Gates.
It is well known all over the world, and often has office workers crying out in frustration as a blue screen appears mid-way through their work.
Although PC’s and other computers have come a long way as far as graphics and fonts are concerned, the BSOD seemed to lag behind in that area; having an almost Dos-like appearance.
BSOD informs a user about what went wrong on the computer and explains what to do to recover the system.
Microsoft has created the new Windows 8 specifically for touch devices.
The company hopes to break into the tablet market and solidify a place in the Apple dominated area.
Apple currently controls that market with its iPad.
Microsoft hopes to use Windows 8 in the fierce competition with the iPad creators.
There is still no official release date for Windows 8, but analysts expect it to become available sometime next year.
The beta version of the system is also on the way.
