WrestleMania 28 Delivers With 'The Rock' Making Spectacular Return
WrestleMania 28 lived up to the hype this weekend as a spectacular series of performances left nearly 80,000 wrestling fans delighted in Miami.
Officials for the WWE stated that WrestleMania 28 set a new attendance record for the Sun Stadium in Miami, Florida.
The event, which was headlined with the much anticipated return of The Rock, and his match with John Cena, drew more than 78,000 passionate and hollering fans to the stadium on Sunday evening.
One of the more intriguing matches of the night was the third match on the main card of WrestleMania 28 which was for the Intercontinental Championship.
Defending champion Cody Rhodes had been taunting his opponent, Big Show, for more than a month leading up to WrestleMania.
Touted as "The World's Largest Athlete" the Big Show has only known embarrassment in WrestleMania's past, and was determined to put Rhodes in his place after being constantly humiliated by him leading up the pay-per-view event.
Big Show started the match by man-handling Rhodes, tossing him around the ring from pillar to pillar. It should have come as no surprise that Big Show would dominate considering that he outweighs Rhodes by more than 200 pounds.
In the end Big Show was given his moment of WrestleMania glory after he pinned Rhodes for a three count to claim his first Intercontinental Championship and a place in WrestleMania history.
But the highlight of the event came when The Rock made his return to the ring. Largely considered one of the best wrestlers of all time, The Rock faced another popular wrestler John Cena.
The 30 minute match was not the best of all time and during some parts looked as if The Rock could have used a few more weeks of preparation, but when it mattered the two delivered moves fans had been patiently waiting for, and when The Rock made the final pin the stadium erupted leaving fans eager for next year's event.
