X-Men Apocalypse Movie Might Not Feature Bryan Singer as Director
The 2016 'X-Men Apocalypse' movie might not feature Bryan Singer as the director.
Singer, who is currently working on "X-Men: Days of Future Past" has not signed on to direct the next installment of the franchise and is currently in negotiations with the studio to sign on for the job.
The director revealed then news in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
"I'm co-writing the story and I'm producing it," he said. "I'm negotiating to direct. We're in the process. We're trying to figure it out, schedules. My desire would be to direct it."
Singer also stated that he was still deciding if "Days of Future Past" would feature any nods to Apocalypse. However, the film is expected to set up the event for the sequel regardless.
"I'm still deciding that. Something that happens in this movie causes what's going to happen in that movie," said Singer.
He also elaborate on the themes for the Apocalypse movie.
"It will also address historical mutant-cy, meaning the deep past, mutant origins and things like that. It's something that's always intrigued me when we think about our Gods and our history and miracles and powers," he explained.
"X-Men Apocalypse" will feature the long-anticipated villain from the comic, who is known as the world's first mutant that adapted alien technology to keep himself immortal.
The X-Men struggle in their attempts to defeat Apocalypse as his defenses appear to be impenetrable.
The villain has appeared in other X-Men media such as the 1990s animated series, the X-Men Legends games for the PS2 and X-Men: Evolution.
The most memorable of all his comic book arcs is the Age of Apocalypse, which features an alternate universe where Professor Xavier was killed and he reigns supreme.
