'America's Got Talent' Winner 2013 Announced: Kenichi Ebina Takes the Title
Musician and dancer Kenichi Ebina won the hearts and votes of America on the season 8 finale of "America's Got Talent" last night. The 38-year-old Ebina won the competition, beating out five other final contestants and winning $1 million and the opportunity to headline a performance in Las Vegas.
After the win, Ebina was sure to credit those who helped him achieve this incredible goal, mainly his young family.
"It's amazing. I want to thank my wife and my daughter [for] being supportive all the way through and all the fans that support us," the winner said.
When speaking to US Today, "America's Got Talent" judge Howard Stern had high praise for the show winner.
"You know, every time someone was eliminated tonight, it was really kind of shocking, because these are really talented people. They all gave it their all, but Kenichi is one of a kind and I said, 'Let's find a super star,' and I think we did," Stern said.
Stern also spoke highly of Ebina and his talent when speaking to SiriusXM AGT All Access before the winner was announced.
"I really do think Kenichi really deserves to win. I think the guy is an incredible talent, and for two reasons he deserves to win. Number one, he was great all season. And number two, he creates [his own material] ... with singers who sing other people's songs, half of the challenge is over," Stern said.
The other finalists whom Ebina beat out last night were Cami Bradley, Collins Key, Taylor Williamson, Jimmy Rose, and the opera group Forte.
