Amy Winehouse Ex-Husband on Life Support After Drug Binge; Singer's Father Requests Prayers

Amy Winehouse's ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil is reportedly in a coma on life support after going on a drug-filled booze binge, and his former father-in-law has urged fans to "pray" for his recovery.

The 30-year-old was allegedly found choking in his bed on Aug. 3 by his partner, Sarah Aspin, before being rushed to a hospital in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, according to reports.

Fielder-Civil, Winehouse's husband of two years, consumed an excessive amount of alcohol followed by heroin, which subsequently led to his collapse from multiple organ failure, The Sun U.K. reported.

Winehouse's father Mitch called the incident "terrible news" and spoke out via his personal Twitter account.

"Remember Amy loved him. Let's pray for his recovery," Mitch tweeted.

Aspin, who is also the mother of Fielder-Civil's 15-month-old son Jack, has reportedly been by his bedside since his collapse and was inconsolable when approached by reporters.

"The doctors say they don't know the prognosis. They said they put him in a coma to help him and due to infection. I'm praying he'll survive, but I'm having to prepare myself that he may never wake up," Aspin told The Sun.

"I am devastated, just devastated, at what has happened. I just want to cry all the time- but I have to be strong for our son Jack," she added.

Fielder-Civil battled heroin addiction throughout his tumultuous relationship with Winehouse, who died of accidental alcohol poisoning on July 23, 2011 at age 27.

The troubled couple were often photographed engaging in public brawls during their marriage and previously admitted to regular drug use. In 2008, the former video production assistant admitted that he had introduced Winehouse to crack and heroin, according to former U.K. tabloid the News of the World.

In 2009, Fielder-Civil filed for divorce, maintaining that it was his attempt to help Winehouse beat her drug addiction. She soon moved on with actor Josh Bowman.

"I've finally escaped from hell. I'm in love again, and I don't need drugs. Look at me; I'm glowing!" Winehouse told the News of the World in 2009.

"I don't know what's going on with [Blake] now, and for the time being I've just forgotten I'm even married. I'm just here on my own, happy and having a good time with Josh. I'll deal with Blake when I get back. But our whole marriage was based on doing drugs," she added.
