Android 4.4, KitKat Update Rolls Out for Nexus 7 (2012) and Nexus 7 (2013)
The Android 4.4, KitKat update is now available for the Nexus 7 (2012) and (2013) models.
Firmware version KRT16S can be downloaded OTA (over-the-air) for the Wi-Fi versions of both devices. It might take a bit longer to roll out the update for the 3G 2012 version and LTE 2013 model.
The Nexus 7 (2013) was released shortly before the summer of this year and introduced Android 4.3 JellyBean to the market. It features impressive specs including a 7-inch 1920x1200 HD display, 2GB RAM, a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 16/32GB of internal storage, built-in wireless charging, and a 5-megapixel rear camera.

The original Nexus 7 launched in 2012 and comes with a 7-inch display with 1280x800 resolution at 216ppi, a 1.2 megapixel front camera, a quad-core 1300 MHz Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, 1GB RAM, Android 4.1, 3G connectivity, NFC, and Bluetooth 3.0. It comes in two memory capacities including 16GB and 32GB versions.
Various retailers began running promotions on the new Nexus 7 earlier this month.
The 32GB Nexus 7 2013 model price has been dropped to $239 through the online retailer Newegg.com.
The device normally sells for $269 in the Google Play store. Amazon is also running a promotion where it is offering the tablet for this same price.
Both retailers have the device in stock, however, Newegg set a one per person limit rule.
There are also deals on the 16GB Nexus model with Amazon selling the device for $218.67. Newegg offers it at its regular price.
Staples ran a promotion where it was offering up to $50 off any tablet in their inventory which included the Nexus 7 models and the Nexus 10.
