Apple Watch Series 3 Has Serious Connectivity Issues, Apple Admits
A week after the momentous unveiling of the Apple Watch Series 3, its manufacturer announced that the smartwatch has a pressing issue at hand.
According to a report from The Economic Times, Apple admitted that the device has intermittent and unstable cellular connectivity. The problem directly affects the smartwatch's ability to make phone calls, as well as access data.
"We have discovered that when Apple Watch Series 3 joins unauthenticated Wi-Fi networks without connectivity, it may at times prevent the watch from using cellular," explained the tech giant in a statement. "We are investigating a fix for a future software release," Apple added.
This means that the Apple Watch 3 has the tendency to connect to wireless networks even if they are not supposed to. In turn, the LTE connectivity is affected since the device is unable to consistently manage the change and shifting in connectivity paths.
The issue was also noticed by The Verge, which noted that they lost connectivity when the smartphone, to which the device was connected to, was set on airplane mode. Moreover, some reviewers also noticed that the battery drained significantly faster when they were making calls.
Because of the connectivity hiccups, Apple shares were somewhat affected as it closed down by 1.7 percent at $157.07 per share, The Economic Times added.
Earlier this week, Apple released the iOS11, and much like the Apple Watch 3, it also encountered some bugs. BGR reported that Apple users who installed the new OS experienced shorter battery life for their device. In addition, some users also reported that their devices slowed down noticeably after the iOS11 installation.
With no further update from Apple, users are advised to perform some tricks that will help extend the battery life and improve the performance of their devices. First, they can trim down the number of applications that usually refresh on the background. Second, users can also tick the Low Power Mode option while waiting for the next Apple iOS11 update.
