'Attack on Titan' Season 3 News: Premiere Date and Additional Details Revealed
The release date for the upcoming season of "Attack on Titan" has been revealed.
Wit Studio's famed anime series debuts in July next year, according to reports. The big news was announced at the Attack on Titan Reading & Live Event Orchestra performance, along with other details about the premiere.
Season 3 was confirmed during the Anime Expo 2017 event earlier this year. At the time, it was tentatively scheduled for a spring 2018 premiere. A new key art for the program's third installment has been unveiled as well, which can be viewed on the official "Attack on Titan" Twitter account.

As Bleeding Cool points out, Wit Studios is known for making fans wait for a long time to see the anime. Their reputation has led many to have some cautious optimism when it comes to the announcement. Some are concerned that July 2018 is not a realistic premiere date for a series as big as "Attack on Titan."
There are speculations that it is just the start of multiple delays that could hold the premiere until late 2018 or early 2019. Meanwhile, other viewers believe the announcement is a sign that Wit Studios is now willing to commit to a much larger and longer season.
Funimation released the anime's first two recap films — "Guren no Yumiya" and "Jiyuu no Tsubasa" — in theaters before "Attack on Titan" season 2 aired. It is still unclear whether Funimation has plans to do the same thing for the upcoming installment.
While season 3 is still a ways off, manga readers already know what lies ahead for the characters. The series is expected to feature the "Uprising" arc after Reiner and Bertholt finally revealed their true identities as Titan Shifters. Eren and Krista are in danger, so the Training Corps will certainly do everything to protect their friends from external threats.
