'Bachelorette' Host: 'There Were Warning Signs' of Relationship's End

Viewers were shocked when Brooks decided to call it quits and not propose to "Bachelorette" Desiree Hartsock during the first part of the season finale. Host Chris Harrison recently said that there were plenty of warning signs of impending disaster for the couple.

"We've all walked through those warning signs, and you're like, 'No! There's a cliff right there! You're about to fall off it!' and you just aimlessly walk right off the cliff – and that's what she (Desiree) did! There were so many signs as you watch back. We even showed it last night where they came up with these bizarre adjectives, but they were really verbs, about describing their love and at the same time she goes, 'We're running!' he's like, 'Jogging'! You could just tell they weren't in the same place," Harrison said on "Good Morning America."

Desiree was left in shambles after Brooks confessed that he just didn't feel the way that she felt about him. It was a stunning twist to the series, especially given that Desiree constantly spoke about how in love she was with him. However, viewers may have picked up on the fact that Brooks never reciprocated those words or that emotion.

"He was definitely a front-runner," Harrison said. "All along I kept asking her, 'Has he said this to you? Has he told you he loves you? Has he given you any words of affirmation to let you know this is real?' And she'd always say, 'No, but he shows it. No, but he tells me in other words.' And if you watch the show, he really never did."

Harrison also offered insight into the second part of the episode and discussed the situation with the other two men, Drew and Chris, who have no idea what has happened with Brooks.

"We have two guys who have already professed their love, they're ready to propose, and they have no clue what's going on. So you have Des and then you have these two guys. So there's a lot to deal with next week," Harrison said.

"The Bachelorette" finale will air Monday, Aug. 5 on ABC.
